Enhanced Core Reading Instruction (ECRI) is a research-based, multi-tiered (Tier 1 and 2) K-2 program designed to increase reading proficiency for struggling readers through explicit and systematic instruction. ECRI implements phonics instruction through fast-paced and easily recognized routines that students easily follow to decrease their cognitive load and increase their ability to focus on the instruction at hand. This program focuses heavily on phonemic awareness, phonics, sound blending, sound segmenting, fluency, and decoding.
