LA Small Groups

LiteracyDifferentiationStudent Engagement

During language arts, my students rotate through differentiated literacy centers tailored to their individual skill levels. Literacy centers are organized into several different broad categories such as word work, writing, listening, and reading. This ensures my students are practicing their literacy skills across several different domains each week. While students are engaged at their center, I am leading small group instruction at my table in which I provide targeted practice such as letter-sound correspondence, sight words, or early reading strategies to meet specific student needs. I create my groups based off the most current data I have compiled from state testing (e.g., VALLSS) and phonics assessments.
