Literacy

My literacy block blends explicit phonics instruction with rich read-alouds and daily opportunities for meaningful reading, writing, and comprehension practice. Students participate in whole- and small-group learning, as well as hands-on literacy centers that strengthen foundational skills like letter-sound correspondence, phonological awareness, sight word recognition, and handwriting. Students become confident, capable emerging readers and writers through structured discussions (e.g., turn and talk), choral and individual responses, and exposure to high-quality fiction and nonfiction texts.
